I’ve successfully treated Brachioradial Pruritus with acupuncture. Back in 2011, a patient visited my clinic presenting symptoms of severe burning, itching, and prickling across the upper arms, forearms, and shoulders. These sensations were especially intense at night, leading to sleep disruption and fatigue.
While my primary focus was on treating the skin-related symptoms, I also addressed the upper back and neck to account for any underlying neuromuscular causes—even though the patient reported no prior neck or shoulder injuries.
Remarkably, after just four acupuncture sessions, the patient experienced an 80% improvement and was finally able to sleep comfortably through the night.
Brachioradial Pruritus is a rare condition, and I may never see another case during my practice. However, I’m sharing this experience to encourage others who suffer from this condition to consider acupuncture as a treatment option.
